  • Within a century, this new Saudi kingdom stretches from the Hijaz to modern-day Iraq
  • The Ottoman Sultan asks Muhammad Ali Pasha to deal with the Saudis
  • Muhammad Ali Pasha’s son, Ibrahim Pasha, finally defeats the Saudis in 1818
