This is episode 6-7: WWII and Palestine.
Before we get into the episode, let’s do a brief recap of where we are so far.
- The Zionist Movement begins in the late nineteenth century to create an international home for Jews
- Since then, there are sporadic waves of Jewish immigration, called Aliyah, from Europe to Palestine
- During WWI, the United Kingdom takes up the cause of Zionism leading to the Balfour Declaration
- When the British capture Jerusalem from the Ottomans, they begin the process of turning Palestine into a Jewish state
