البصرة ثمان وخمسون سنة هجرية
Basrah, 58 AH
Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad stood among the spectators watching the racehorses line up. He had placed a small wager on one of them and hoped it would win.
Four years earlier, Ubaydullah had gone to Damascus, begging Muawiyyah for a government position. At first Muawiyyah hesitated, but eventually, he relented.
As usual a great episode by Brother Muttaqi.

Assalamu Alaikum,
Brother Muttaqi, I really enjoy listening to the podcast. It is very educational and entertaining, and I enjoy the way you make it into a storyline. In addition, I like that you always make sure to clarify anything the viewers may be confused about and do a recap at the start of every episode. Finally, at the end of the episode, I like that you put your thoughts and explain what events may not be accurate, I feel this is a very important aspect.
Also, there is no need to explain the gap between episodes. It is very understandable for the podcast to not take up most of your time.
Jazak Allahu Khairan,
Ismaeel
Wa Alaykum Salaam Brother Ismaeel,
Thank you for the kind words. Hope you stick around for a while; we’ve come a long way since Season 3.
May Allah reward you with good in this life and the next, Ameen.
