Before we get into the episode, let’s do a brief recap of where we are so far.

• From the 14^th to the 16^th centuries, the Ottoman Empire conquers much of the Balkans, including Constantinople.
• By the end of the 16^th century, most of Bosnia is conquered as well.
• Now part of the Ottoman Empire, Bosnians who accept Islam, attain a privileged position in society 
• However, animosity is growing within the Ottoman Empire’s non-Muslim population in the Balkans
